INTERVAL WORLD Fall 2013 IntervalWorld.com
IN FOCUS
Virginia is a popular vacation
destination, and the winter
enhances this scenic state’s
charm. You might ski on fresh
powder one day, and tour
a few wineries the next.
History buffs who enjoy
Colonial
will
especially appreciate the Cape
Henry Lighthouse, located on
nearby Chesapeake Bay, in the
Hampton Roads area. The
original sandstone structure
(pictured to the right of the
U.S. Coast Guard’s lighthouse)
is one of the country’s oldest
surviving sentinels, as well
as the official symbol for the
city of Virginia Beach. After
presenting student or govern-
ment-issued identification (the
lighthouse is within a military
base), visitors can climb to the
top for eye-popping views of
the bay and the Atlantic
Ocean. And it isn’t just Interval
members who love Virginia in
winter; you might even spot
whales and dolphins as they
migrate off the coast.
