CRUISE NEWS
Nine-Course Nirvana
A voyage on any Norwegian Cruise Line ship affords passengers
entree to an ultra-exclusive dinner party — that is, if they’re one of the lucky 12 cruisers to secure (for a fee) a
coveted seat at the Chef’s Table nine-course dining experience. The two-and-a-half-hour affair begins with
champagne and conversation with the executive chef, head wine steward, and other onboard culinary experts.
Guests are then treated to a series of haute-cuisine creations (explained in depth by the
chef) paired with wine specially selected by a master sommelier. Among the menu
items: plantain-crusted sea bass topped with lobster velouté, and a milk-fed veal chop
accompanied by potatoes Anna, culminating with a selection of delectable desserts.
Just when you thought this leggy blonde had
seen and done it all, Barbie’s headed for the
high seas. Barbie Movie Night, Barbie Story
Time, and other doll-themed events will
now be part of the Adventure Ocean Youth
Program on all Royal Caribbean sailings. For
a fee, the Barbie Premium Experience offers
lucky little ones ages 4 to 11 a decked-out
Barbie stateroom and access to special activi-
ties, including Tiaras & Teacups, featuring
etiquette lessons, and pink lemonade and pink
pastries; a mermaid dance class with moves
from
Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2;
and a fashion
show where mini models can strut their stuff
on the pink carpet. Start packing the little pink
suitcase for this dream adventure.

the
Carnival Destiny
) features a bevy of bells and whistles, including the line’s first
three-deck, adults-only Serenity escape, complete with lounge chairs, a waterfall,
whirlpool, and sea views. Among the 30-plus additional updates are the Alchemy
Bar, offering alcoholic “elixirs” concocted by mixologists in lab coats; The Comfort
Kitchen, a casual eatery serving American classics; and The Punchliner Comedy
Club, featuring performances by up-and-comers vetted by funny guy George Lopez.
