IN FOCUS
AN UP-CLOSE LOOK AT LAS VEGAS’
NEON BONEYARD
hen we think of glitzy Las Vegas, colorful, flashing
lights often come to mind, particularly of the neon
variety. The Neon Boneyard features more than
200 vintage neon signs from Las Vegas casinos,
hotels, and other establishments that lit up the city streets once
upon a time. This outdoor showcase is where many of the most-
famous signs are preserved — some fully restored — and
displayed to offer a glimpse of old-school Vegas.
While the neon trend has faded over the years, it still remains
an integral part of the city’s history and culture. Visitors take
guided day or night tours of the exhibit to find out when and
where these iconic works of art were made, and what inspired
their creation. Though neon signs can still be found on the
Strip, the Boneyard is where retired signs get a second chance
to shine.
