Picnic at the Zoo

When the kids have depleted your funds at the boardwalk, turn to

the Cape May County Park & Zoo for an admission-free day of

nature and relaxation. About 40 minutes from Atlantic City, this

wonderful zoo is also a beautiful park.

Start out touring the zoo, observing more than 250 species of

animals, and getting up close at the petting area. Peacocks who

roam freely on the grounds are a huge draw, with children following

them everywhere they go. Kids will also love the rock-climbing wall,

carousel, and train ride through the park. There’s a cafe on-site,

but packing a lunch gives you the chance to enjoy the picturesque

park, with its playground and picnic tables.

After lunch, there’s more to explore on the grounds. Go fishing

in the park’s ponds, play a round of disc golf, or burn off some

calories on wooded hiking trails. Whichever you choose, a day at

the Cape May County Park & Zoo is the perfect way to wrap up

your visit — with good, old-fashioned family togetherness.
