First Beach Vacation

CAROLINE MISNER FINKL AND JONATHON FINKL

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA

After a recent move from Chicago, Illinois, to Charlotte, North

Carolina, Caroline Misner Finkl and Jonathon Finkl wanted

to explore their new area, so they exchanged their week for

a resort along the coast. “This was a particularly special trip,

as our 3-year-old daughter, Evelyn, had never actually been

on a beach or seen the ocean,” says Caroline. The couple was

ecstatic when they received a confirmation for Marriott’s Barony

Beach Club on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. “The resort

was perfect — from the rooms to the pools and, of course,

access to the beach!” says Caroline. The family was impressed

with the friendly and accommodating staff, and enjoyed some

of the resort activities, including tasting delicious s’mores —

another first for Evelyn. The Finkls made lasting memories

playing in the sand, soaking up the sun, and splashing in the

pool. “What a special vacation! We had a wonderful time and

are planning on making this an annual family trip. We want to

thank Interval for having such great properties and for making

life’s moments truly special.”

Change of Scenery

KIRSTI LIVINGSTON

MORSCHACH, SWITZERLAND

Kirsti Livingston usually exchanges for ski resorts in the Western

U.S., but last year, she decided tomix it up and put in a request for

Apart Holidays – Swiss Holiday Park in Morschach, Switzerland.

“Much to our delight, we got the exact week that we wanted

and we had a fabulous time,” says Kirsti, who traveled with her

daughter and granddaughter. Using the resort as a home base,

the family visited Lucerne, a mountain city known for its pre-

served medieval architecture, and explored the Bernese Alps in

the Berner Oberland region. “We even took the train down to the

south of Switzerland to the city of Lugano, where a friend drove

us over to Italy for a day,” says Kirsti. “It was a vacation that my

daughter, granddaughter, and I will never forget.”

Summertime in Stateline

CHRISTINE AND MATT RHOADS

|

STATELINE, NEVADA

Christine and Matt Rhoads, along with their children, Autumn and

Adam, enjoyed the mountain scenery while vacationing at The Ridge

Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada. “Not only did the resort have breathtaking

views of the Sierra Nevada ridge and Carson Valley, it had multiple

hot tubs, pools, excellent amenities, and activities for children and

teens, all the while being very convenient to the lake itself,” says

Christine. From the property, the family ventured to different areas

nearby, including quaint towns and villages, and beaches at state and

federal parks. Everyone enjoyed hiking and spotting the native mule

deer, and Autumn and Adam had a blast paddleboarding for the first

time. Christine and Matt hope to visit again with their kids in the win-

ter. “I will absolutely encourage any person or family wanting a safe,

easily accessible mountain vacation to experience Lake Tahoe in the

summer for themselves — they will have memories and experiences

that will last a lifetime,” says Christine.

A Dream Come True

ERIKA AND STAN OWENS

|

ANTIGUA

There’s nothing like a tropical island vacation, and Erika and Stan

Owens have vowed to take as many as possible. “[Exchanging]

with Interval International has allowed us tomake it to at least two per

year,” says Erika. The couple traveled with their children, Cade and

Savannah, to the Village at St. James’s Club on Antigua, offering

golden strands, crystalline waters, and all-day fun in the sun. The

family snorkeled on Cades Reef, took a Segway tour of St. John’s

(the capital), joined a party at Shirley Heights Lookout, and visited

some of the island’s 365 beaches. While Stan enjoyed the on-site

gym, tennis courts, and restaurants, Cade and Savannah went

paddleboarding and kayaking, and played table tennis, beach volley-

ball, and other resort-arranged activities. “The Village at St. James’s

Club met everyone’s dream of the perfect vacation,” says Erika. “If

the property is with Interval, it’s going to be nice.”
