Animal lovers can now get more bang for their buck at The Living Desert Zoo
and Gardens in Palm Desert with the new Total Adventure Package (TAP). For
a flat rate of about $18, visitors get a TAP bracelet that grants them unlimited
access to many of the extra activities at the zoo. You can take a selfie with a
herd of giraffes and feed them carrots, mingle with lorikeets flying freely inside
the aviary, or go on a camel ride as many times as you want for the day. To
further enhance the experience, The Living Desert also launched its smartphone
app with an interactive audio tour that features overviews for each animal, GPS
real-time mapping, and more. It’s available for iOS and Android devices.

explore the surreal set of rooms
and secret passages that make up
the interactive art expo, House of
Eternal Return, to investigate
what happened to the fictional
Selig family who vanished after
conducting some kind of experi-
ment inside their Victorian estate.
After two weeks of renovations in
early 2018, the reopened exhibit
has new rooms to discover and
other smaller-scale improvements.
A new installation, Light Boxes ,
is a wall of colorful boxes that
light up when tapped and hold the
code to a nearby safe with clues to
solve the mystery.

Chicago has long been the breeding ground for Saturday Night
Live cast members and writers. So the Windy City was the obvious
next stop for the Saturday Night Live: The Experience traveling
exhibit, after wrapping up a two-year stint in New York City.
The 12,000-square-foot display at the Museum of Broadcast
Communications outlines the history of the late-night sketch comedy
show — which debuted in 1975 — and takes visitors through the
show’s fast-paced weekly schedule. You’ll see original costumes,
props, and scripts, as well as replicas of the writer’s room, control
room, and some sets. The exhibition runs until Dec. 31, 2018.

Priscilla Basque, beekeeper and
